The ski season is just around the corner, but guess what? You can start now, before everyone else. Here is the guide for those of you who want to be at the front.

What and where is happening now?

Several places have already opened their trails, with artificial snow, stored snow and cold in place. Imagine white snow under your skis while others are still trying to dig out their winter boots.

You can alredy ski here:

  • Mosetertoppen Skistadion, Hafjell: Opened 20 October. Website.

Sjusjøen Arena Natrudstilen: Opened 1. November. Website.

  • Beitostølen: Opened 1. November. Website.

  • Trysilfjellet Arena: Opened 31. October. Website.

  • Snø Lørenskog: Open all year. Website.

Why start now?

  • Starting early gives you more time to improve your form, test your equipment and top up your form for Janteloppet.

  • You don't have to train with hundreds of others, more calm and focus.

  • It will be a mental victory even before the season starts.

Tips

  • Don't run the "all-or-nothing" mindset. Use the early runs as training.

  • Combine with strength and other training. Skiing is gold, but targeted fitness + strength gives you extra extra effect.

  • Be flexible. Weather conditions change - have a plan B.

  • Keep in shape off the slopes. Even if you can't go to the top resort, run intervals, or/and train strength to stay in shape.

Put on your skis, or plan a trip to a run that has opened, and start your journey towards Janteloppet in style.

See you at the starting line on April 11!
