How Janteloppet’s 20 km amateur race turns every skier into a finisher.
Not every skier dreams of winning. Some dream of starting.
The Janteloppet amateur race is for the everyday adventurers, the first-timers, the ones who show up not to prove something to others, but to themselves.
It’s the same snow, the same track, the same roaring crowd as the professionals but with one key difference: you set the goal.
20 Kilometers of Possibility
The amateur race follows the same 5 km loop as the Janteloppet Grand Prize professional race and skied up to four times, for a total of 20 km. But here’s the beauty of it: you decide how far you go.
Stop after 5 km, 10, 15, or push through to the full 20. Every distance counts. Every lap tells a story of effort, focus, and courage.
It’s not about finishing first, it’s about finishing proud.

The Power of Choice
In traditional races, the finish line is fixed. At Janteloppet, it’s personal.
This flexible format isn’t about giving up, it’s about giving yourself ownership of the experience.
It’s about recognizing that every skier comes with their own motivation: to test endurance, to challenge limits, to simply feel alive in the mountains.
And when your loops are done, the story continues, across the finish line and into Janteburn, where skiers, fans, and friends come together to celebrate what they’ve achieved.
It’s a transition from effort to energy, from focus to freedom.
You’ve earned that moment.
Where Everyone Belongs
Janteloppet is built on community.
On this track, you’ll find first-time skiers sharing laughs with veterans, parents skiing alongside their teenagers, and friends cheering each other through every climb.
No judgment. No pressure. Just the shared spirit of challenge and joy.
Because skiing doesn’t belong only to the elite, it belongs to anyone brave enough to clip in, push forward, and finish with a smile.
