General: In the Janteloppet Grand Prize race, competitors are organized into five seeding groups. These include the Elite group and Groups 1 to 4 based on performance. If you are not seeded, you will automatically be placed in Group 5. Seeding System: For the utmost transparency, the Janteloppet Grand Prize uses an automatic seeding formula based on FIS published results, with a cutoff date of 07.04.2025. Participants without a FIS code or FIS points by this date will automatically be seeded in Group 5. Qualifying Races: Our seeding formula considers your performance between 01.12.2024 and 07.04.2025 in FIS Mass Start races 30 km or longer (Qualifying Races) and/ or your performance in the Long Distance Majors (Marcialonga, Vasaloppet, and Birkebeinerrennet). This ensures competitors are placed in appropriate groups based on recent performance. Competitors will receive their exact seeding position by 10 April 2025, allowing for accurate placement based on the latest FIS points from the qualifying period. The Seeding Formula: Elite Group: You are automatically seeded in the Elite Group if you satisfy one or more of the following conditions: Placed in the top 50 in at least one of the Long Distance Majors in 2024 or 2025. Top 15 placement in any Qualifying Race Groups 1 to 4: The seeding formula calculates your starting position by analyzing your performance in all Qualifying Races and Long Distance Majors. It extrapolates your position by first removing competitors in the Elite Group, ensuring that your seeding reflects your relative standing among the remaining participants. Group 5: If you are not seeded in any of the 5 seeding groups, you are automatically seeded into Group 5.

  • What is Janteburn?
Janteburn, inspired by the iconic Burning Man Festival in the U.S., marks a first for Norway, blending a vibrant music festival with a profound cultural expression. Highlighting the event is the symbolic burning of a wooden statue representing Janteloven, ignited by the victor of the challenging 100 KM cross-country professional race. In a ceremonial tradition, the torch is passed from the previous year's champion to the new winner. This year, unless he triumphs again, Petter Northug Jr. will have the honor of passing the torch to a new champion. Surrounding the centerpiece burning ceremony, attendees will be treated to a rich tapestry of music, with performances by a diverse lineup of artists, enhancing the experience both before and after the burn.
  • What is Afterburn?
"Afterburn" is the exhilarating official after-party of the Janteburn festival and Janteloppet ski festival. Afterburn extends the party into the early hours of the morning, featuring an eclectic mix of DJs and live performances. You can expect a vibrant atmosphere, where the excitement of the day's events transitions into an unforgettable night of dancing, socializing, and revelry.
